Process Modelling

A&A use generic business models and standard methods for describing client business processes. These provide in diagram and text form a detailed statement of the business processes needed to achieve each business objective.

We describe the data flowing into and out of each process, identify the data stores used to preserve non-transient information and map these to an associated relational Data Model. External entities such as Clients, Exchanges, Brokers, Regulators, who benefit from or contribute to each process are identified. We then identify tasks for automation and manual tasks.

The resulting analysis supports development of organisation structures most suitable for undertaking the tasks operationally. 

Data Models provide a precise definition of business data and its purpose, leading to reduced effort and cost and increased control.

Formal data structures show how one entity relates to another, facilitating the development or acquisition of new applications.

Each data item is represented once only for all business purposes, eliminating confusion amongst IT and business users.

Auditors and regulators can confirm adequate control over Client, Counterparty and other data.

We develop and maintain generic models of Investment Management and Securities Processing businesses and use these to:

• Evaluate third-party product offerings, reducing evaluation and selection time and cost
• Develop bespoke software components, reducing development time and cost
• Appraise reference and market data offerings from data vendors.
