Outsourcing: A Topology

Our Experience

We have now had many years experience of identifying the opportunities for outsourcing, of developing the requirements definitions by which an OSP can be evaluated, of creating RfPs, and of assisting potential OSPs to determine the scale and cost of their offerings.

This experience, encapsulated in a rigorous structured approach to Outsourcing, delivers timely, accurate, comprehensive and cost-effective results for our clients.

Asset Managers are finding it harder to win and retain high fee business. In the heady days of the mid to late1990's life was relatively easy. The cost-to-revenue ratios of some leading London firms were as low as 35%. No longer! In recent times for some firms they have exceeded 100%! Firms are under continuing pressure from their shareholders to restore profitability, though not necessarily to the previous exalted heights.
There remains, too, an on-going demand for improved technology and new and upgraded skills in both the Front and the Back Office.
While the Front and the Back Office co-exist in the firm, the disparity between the capital requirements of the two remains an issue. While the firm, quite properly, is run by Fund Managers, the Back Office may continue to be seen as an unwelcome and costly drain on the firm’s cash flow.
However, if the Firm can be confident that first-class Investment Operations Services are available, at a fee, then Fund Managers can focus on their core business skills.
The opportunity for an Outsource Service Provider that can address the needs of the large investment firm is clear.
